You were dying and she dragged you back.
"Save her, if you want," he flippantly told the stranger before he carelessly walked away, over cracked stone and broken wood. You struggled to watch him go; you were desperate for him to be the final thing seared into your retinas before you died. Instead, she filled your sight—petal soft skin and spring green eyes and cherry blossom hair—before she laid you bare and stripped you of your pointless death and your fatalistic wish. You resented her, you hated her, you cursed her with the breath she forced back into your lungs.
"Don't be stupid," she snarled. "Your life is worth more than his."
Her chakra stitched the torn fabric of your cells back together. Her hands stitched an ugly, puckered seam into your flesh. One day she will tell you, "I loved him, too," and her words will stitch the remnants of your shattered heart into something whole.
But now you sob, "Please, please no—" and, because she knows you better than you know yourself, she ignores you and saves you, stitch by stitch by agonizing stitch.
